Ex-Lagos Governor, Sir Michael Otedola, Laid To Rest

Former Lagos state governor & father of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, Sir Michael Otedola, who died May 6th, was buried today May 30th. His funeral mass held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Epe.

Guests included President Jonathan and his wife Patience Jonathan, Governor Babatunde Fashola and his wife Bimbola; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji; former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Aliko Dangote; Folorunsho Alakija; Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie; former governor Peter Obi; Abike Dabiri, former military Administrator of Lagos, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; Ministers for Culture and Tourism, Edem Duke and Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Ayo Adesina.

Pregnant Pakistani woman stoned to death by her own family for marrying man she loved

A pregnant Pakistani woman was stoned to death by her own family in front of a Pakistani high court - for marrying the man she loved, UK Daily Mail reports

Nearly 20 members of the woman's family, including her father and brothers, attacked her and her husband with batons and bricks in broad daylight.

Farzana Parveen, who was three months pregnant, was killed before a crowd of onlookers in front of the high court of Lahore, police have reported. (Her corpse seen above) Continue...

Renowned poet and author Maya Angelou dies at 86

One of America's most famous and inspiring poets and writers, Maya Angelou, has died. She died last night with her family by her side in a Winston-Salem, North Carolina hospital while recovering from an illness.

The famed author was to be honored this Friday with the Beacon of Life Award at Major League Baseball's Civil Rights Game when she fell ill and had to cancel.

Angelou has received more than 30 honorary degrees from universities around the world. She published 7 autobiographies, 3 books of essays, and several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning more than 50 years.

"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou famously wrote

May her soul rest in peace. Amen.

Polythechnics and Colleges of Education students protest in Lagos .......

Students from Polytechnics and Colleges of Education this morning took to the streets of Lagos to protest the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP, strike which has been on for over 9 months now. The strike has grounded academic activities in all Polytechnics and also halted the students' academic pursuits.

An okader man allegedly raped a lady,he was carrying as his passenger,the rape was a planned work with some of his friends,the lady live along his street so he told her to an uncompleted building to carry out his action

LOCAL BORNO VILLAGE WOMEN'S GROUP REPELS BOKO HARAM ATTACK ON THEIR COMMUNITIES!!!

LOCAL women in the villages of Attagara and Kawuri in Borno State disarmed 10 Boko Haram terrorists who tried to attack their communities over the weekend resulting in the lynching of seven of the insurgents.     As part of its ongoing reign of terror, Boko Haram tried to spread its operations to Attagara and Kawuri villages in Gwoza and Bama Local Government Areas of Borno State. However, they were resisted by a group of women using local charms among other things and were disarmed.
After the women repelled the attacks, they then raised the alarm and the rest of the community rallied round to apprehend the insurgents. Three of the terrorists fled but seven were arrested and lynched by an irate mob
One  resident said the attackers invaded the village yesterday on motorcycles but ran into the  women and wanted to hit them with sticks but when they raised the sticks, their hands refused to descend. The women then notified the local vigilante group, which rushed to the scene, disarmed the seven insurgents and lynched them.
